Year 5

Overview

Year 5 is a dynamic and exciting year, where children are encouraged to become increasingly independent learners and take on new challenges across all areas of the curriculum.

Our Year 5 classes are taught by two collaborative teaching teams: Mrs Bricknell and Miss Brent, who lead Class 5BB, and Ms Vernazza and Ms Bertin, who teach Class 5VB.

Both teaching teams are committed to creating engaging and stimulating classroom environments where pupils are encouraged to think deeply, work collaboratively, and develop resilience in their learning.

In 5BB and 5VB, children are supported to build on their prior knowledge while being challenged to extend their understanding and apply their skills in new and meaningful ways. With a strong focus on preparation for upper Key Stage 2, the Year 5 team ensures that all pupils are well-equipped for the expectations of Year 6, while continuing to foster a love of learning and a sense of curiosity about the world around them.
