Stanley Primary is a mainstream primary school for children aged 3 – 11 years. We are proud of our reputation of being an inclusive and supportive school and work hard to meet the needs of all children on our roll.
We have a specialist provision on site, The Peartree Centre, for children (of primary school age) with an EHC Plan for Autism or Social/Communication difficulties. Places to this provision are entirely allocated by the Local Authority. Children who are on roll at Stanley Primary School do not have automatic access to The Peartree Centre.
Children who are on roll at The Peartree Centre benefit from integration into the mainstream as appropriate, for example, for certain lessons or lunch times. Peartree children are also included in school clubs and school trips alongside their peers in mainstream. For further information about how Stanley Primary and The Peartree Centre work together, please call our office number and ask to speak to The SENDCO and/or the Head of Peartree. The Head of Peartree is Mr Jason Stainer.
For a small number of children, accessing the curriculum can be difficult. If we feel a child is experiencing difficulties with their learning that are outside the normal parameters we will consider registering their special needs at the appropriate level in line with the SEND Code of Practice. We would only do this following discussion and collaboration with parent/carers.
We have two SENDCOs in school. If your child is in the EYFS or in KS1, the SENDCO is Mrs Lorna Burns. If your child is in KS2, the SENDCO is Ms Katy Stannett. For more information or the opportunity to meet to discuss your child's specific needs please contact the school on 020 8977 4858.
At Stanley Primary, we aim to:
- Do our best to ensure that the necessary provision is made for any individual who has SEND
- Cooperate with our local authority with the Local Offer
- Ensure we have a designated member of staff responsible for coordinating provision for children with SEND
- Ensure that all children have access to ‘Quality First Teaching’
- Ensure that our admission arrangements do not discriminate against pupils with SEND
- Ensure that children at Stanley with SEND have access to a wide range of school activities and experiences
- Ensure that 'Pupil Voice' is an integral part of SEND planning and provision
- Guide all children to leave our school prepared and inspired to do their best when they move into secondary school and beyond
- Ensure all transitions are carefully and sensitively planned for so that children feel ready and well prepared for the next step
- Place high importance on building and maintaining positive relationships with pupils and parent/carers to ensure that we have a supportive and collaborative approach to SEND across the school
